Yesterday was one of my favorite days in Santa Fe yet. Paul dropped me off on Canyon Road while he went off in search of culinary shops. I planned on taking random photos, but there were so many amazing outdoor sculptures that they quickly became my focus.
I was SO inspired that I have decided to do a drawing. It has been a while, and I thought it would be fun to do something Valentines-themed. Patricia Carlisle. The simplicity of her holding the basket, as a gift, filled with … treasures of her heart, standing alone, amidst the empty plaza, with her offerings of love. She doesn’t have much, so she doubts and is unsure of herself. The innocence and awkwardness of her youth, hoping that the offerings so dear to her own heart are suitable for her beloved.
What a lovely interpretation, Kathi…I felt something similar when I first saw her. Sadness and hope.
I love the Meyer East or the Helicon. I love the classic car as well! I’ll have to show my Dad that one.
Will you let me know if your Dad is familiar with this car? I thought I got close enough to tell once I enlarged the photo, but I didn’t. I have no idea what it is and would love to know.

What’s Coyote Fencing? It looks like trees planted really close together. Does it keep coyotes out? Or is it just a name?

The fencing is used to keep coyotes out. It is very popular here (you can see it in the background of a couple of the photos above, as well). We don’t have it here at the house, and we get coyote visitors every so often. They like to crawl under the barbed wire fence in the back yard, grab an apple and take it back to their den. The horses don’t seem bothered by them at all, and they are very pretty. Of course, this is my opinion – it is controversial here in NM. Every so often I hear a gun shot, and worry that it is intended for one of our coyote visitors.

Awesome pics! The bronze dog reminds me of Gypsy. I lovve the moon and the dragon and the Indians. heck they are all wonderful!! Maybe some day I’ll get there. Take care
Awe, thanks, Gloria. I have never seen Gypsy sit still long enough to get that impression – tee hee! I bet you would really like it here. So different than the NE neighborhood, but we are enjoying the change of pace.

I loved seeing Santa Fe art through your eyes. I loved it all, but found myself drawn to the dragon.
Me too, Mom…it is really impressive in person. I loved the horse, as well. I want to find out more about the artist. So much talent here!
I love all the photos of some of Santa Fe’s art offerings. Nothing beats a stroll up Canyon Road to appreciate all of the art. Having been there in mid-December 2012, we were treated to a blanket of snow, making Santa Fe a winter wonderland. It was truly a sensory welcome with lovely colors, crunchy snow underfoot, delicious Southwest flavors, live music in the Old Town square, and fresh cool mountain air.
