What an authentic Thanksgiving Paul and I had this year. It was quiet and relaxing and greatly appreciated after what can best be described as a tumultuous time in our lives. We finished up the last of the leftovers in between unpacking, organizing, and Sunday paper reading. It occured to me that, after days of eating the same meal over and over again, it was indeed time to move on. Food as metaphor.

Oh I like that metaphor. Definitely time to cook some new food. And since Thanksgiving hosts the blandest meal of the year, I’m thinking something spicy! : )
Indeed, my kindred spirit! Was just on your blog, this a.m., struggling to comment again (?)
Oh, wait – just went back on – new post! Oh, those pictures! Oh! Brilliant! Going back there now…
“…since Thanksgiving hosts the blandest meal of the year…”
Try an Italian-American Thanksgiving! It includes antipasto, lasagna, spicy pepper soup, as well as turkey and mashed potatoes. With appropriate breaks between every course to go for a walk around the neighborhood and check football scores. Out of control.
Yes, your menu would definitely be an exception. Did you say spicy pepper soup? How did I ever miss that?!? YUM!
I am back on my “all things Italian” kick. Paul brought me back another book on Tuscany, and I recently devoured a travelogue set in Spoleto. We will no doubt live in Italy eventually.
turkey is overrated really huh. we had it only ONE day thanks to an invite to a friend’s house for the feast. now we are sick and we are eating SOUP. bland yet comforting. hope you are settling in nicely. do you miss colorado at all?
I do miss CO in spurts. It is easier for me to up and go than for most, I think. Apparently, I have inherited this from my Dad, who has country hopped for years at a time ever since I can remember. Rather worthless in the Dad department but an inspiration nonetheless…
It is so much easier these days to keep in touch (I recommend a blog, myself : ) which takes some of the apprehension out of it. This has been my experience, anyway. I have always felt that if I wanted to go back to a place, I could. And I have. CT has always been my home base.
AH, living my dream, that’s for sure. cheers to you both!
Sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving!!! I love reading your blogs and photos! We did not get any leftovers..so I look forward to having turkey again at Christmas to make up for it! We went to the Bronco game and Steamboat Springs…….turkey at the game…then it was gone:(.
I was thinking about you yesterday, Sunny. Are you setting up your booth for the Holidays? Missing the BAG ladies…
