Sweet! I’d play “Unchained Melody” (our wedding song), “Rock Around The Clock” (just BECAUSE, man!) and CCR’s “Fortunate Son (because it fits the times – again).
Did you have the Rose on 45? I didn’t. But my friend Michelle did and we sang along with such sincerity. Want to know how embarassingly sentimental I am? She put it on a TAPE for me in 1988 (along with Milli Vanilli : ) and I STILL have it! I was only at Conard High for one semester but what a semester it was…
I remember my grandmother having a small confectionery store with a jukebox. I loved to dance and was pretty good at it. My mother said that I was dancing before I was walking. This is a beauty too.
Hope you enjoyed it.
How fun to have a grandma with a confectionary AND a jukebox! One of my favorite films is Chocolat (the one directed by Lasse Hallstrom). I could watch it again and again…
Just listened to Arthur’s Theme as I wasn’t sure which song it was (even with your prompting). Oh, yes…now I remember. Heavy sigh. Lump in throat. Great song.
Too funny, I always think of my juke box songs, whenever I’m at a place that has one I always play “heartbreak hotel”, and “ruby Tuesday”. Not quite sure why, those are just my juke box songs, out of these choices here would be my pick! “I am a rock”, “Bette Davis Eyes” and Jumpin jack flash”.
When I bartended at my cousin’s pub (Irish, of course : ) in CT I would play “You’re so vain” by Carly Simon after almost every shift. I would blast it while I vaccuumed the pool hall.
One of the regulars chose “I did it my way” by Sinatra (of course) every time he played pool.
One time, I lifted my cousin’s little girl onto the pool table and she belted out “Hit me with your best shot” by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Now, she sings in a band in HS. I miss the jukes.
I just decided, that when (if) we ever decide to settle down in one place, there will be a jukebox. If we settle down in an Airstream, we will have one of those mini ones that they put in diner booths…
Bette Davis Eyes
Yesterday
and
Come On, Eileen (Mike’s band used to play that back in Chicago and because of that I can finally remember the name of the band who sung it!).
Okay, now you’ve made me want to turn on the stereo. Love you!
You are, indeed, in the right place : ) A bit disorienting at first, but it all begins to make sense relatively quickly out here in Blogsville. Thanks for visiting, and Tainted Love was fourth on my list, btw…
I am having flashbacks. After a particularly painful break-up, my friends and I went to our favorite hole in the wall bar in Collinsville, CT and I got drunk and played “Heard it From a Friend, Who…Heard it From a Friend Who…” over and over. And over. Lucky I didn’t get my @ss kicked that night.
Minute by Minute (cuz I love the Doobies and I used to play this song on the jukebox at one of the many dives in the Third Ward when I worked at my favorite all time job, to date, at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design)
Come On Eileen (not that keen on that tune, however it was popular the year I met Kevin downunder… thus brings back many a memory)
Where’s the soul music??! Blues and soul soothes this spirit…
Hurt So Bad (carefree days at yet another dive, Bojo’s, on the intracoastal waterway down in F.L.A. Great jukebox, great pinball machines and I always danced with Roger to Blue Bayou by Linda Ronstadt…What is it about dive bars?!)
Have you ever watched Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives…on the food network? He goes to some cool places all over the US. Plenty of good ideas for a road trip, centered around eating of course!
Yesterday, Jumpin Jack Flash, Scarborough Fair

Indeed, my kindred friend.
Bette Davis Eyes, Lucille, The Rose.
I am a rock, the Rose and yesterday…..

OK, so some of the songs chosen aren’t actually on the pic above, but it really doesn’t matter. It is just fun to see what you all like to listen to!
O.k., I’ll play nicely 🙂 Movin’ Out, Arthur’s Theme (Best that you can do), and Shining Star. But Mel Tillis was pretty close.
Gary
: ) Postcard written at said diner is on the way…

More Than A Feeling — Boston
Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Crafts — Klaatu
The Human Touch — Joe Jackson
These would be my choices… “back in the day” !
I just decided, that when (if) we ever decide to settle down in one place, there will be a jukebox. If we settle down in an Airstream, we will have one of those mini ones that they put in diner booths…
If you find two of those minis, let me know. We’ll put one in our fifth wheel.
I’m on it…

I hope I get to hear Mike sing Come on Eileen one day! In overalls! Pushing it? A tad? Durn. I love you too – check your mail! XOX
I am not sure I am in the right place for this but the three songs I’d play are:
Scarborough Fair
Jumpin Jack Flash
Tainted Love!
You are, indeed, in the right place : ) A bit disorienting at first, but it all begins to make sense relatively quickly out here in Blogsville. Thanks for visiting, and Tainted Love was fourth on my list, btw…
Once I ran to you, Now I’ll run from you
Dont touch me, pleeeaaase…I cannot STAND the way you TEEEEASE!!!
This is from Evergreen Kristina…
“If I had a quarter, I’d play Led Zeppelin’s All of My Love on your jukebox.
Growing up our neighbors had a jukebox and we usually played Monster Mash.”
Jennifer started school the year Tainted Love was released… She turns 34 next month….
From this jukebox, my quarter would give us – Overkill, Forever in Blue Jeans and Sweet Home Alabama.
Ghosts appear and fade away…sigh.

Dive bars are always the best. And diners in the morning for breakfast. And cafes in the afternoon…
There may have been many a blues tune on the other strip. When I get a jukebox there will be plenty of blues and soul(Keb ‘Mo for sure!).
I worked at a restaurant called Blue Bayou with my best friend Rach when I was fifteen or so. We played that song every day : )
I love you. On my way back home. xxx
XOX and love you too and what are your three song choices, then? Hee.
I love you too! 🙂
XOX Love All Around! Get ready for a fantabulous e-mail coming your way…
Have you ever watched Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives…on the food network? He goes to some cool places all over the US. Plenty of good ideas for a road trip, centered around eating of course!
Oooh – I haven’t (no cable) but it sounds like the perfect combination to me! Maybe I can see an episode or two online…
